ELVESANG – CONCERT 9th of FEBRUARY

Coverbilde Elvesang-1

Sigurd Hole`s first release for solo contrabass, titled Elvesang (River song) were released this January. The album is the outcome of exploration with the soundscapes of the bass for many years, inspired by Norwegian folk music and coloured by the sounds of the Japanese bamboo flute Shakuhachi. As the title of the album suggests, natural sounds is another important source of inspiration. Working with non-traditional instrumental techniques and ambience, sound, rythm and texture, natural sounds are evoked, like deep rolling thunder and dew drops falling to the ground. The music fits describtion as minimalistic, beautiful and thoughtful, but al’so playful and expressive!
