The river is central to the Western imagination,and has been ever since Moses came drifting down the Nile in a basket. In both art and popular culture the river has maintained it’s metaphorical powers – wether paddling upstreams the Kongo into the heart of darkness, or jumping onto a river steamer and accompanying the adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. But what kind of river is running through the valley Gudbrandsdalen? What is it’s potential? Is if possible to re-invent a whole new river stream? And is it possible to create a dream society on it’s riverbed?

Olav Brostrup Müller is a writer and journalist, living in Lillehammer. He has been running the fictious submarine-company Gudbrandsdal Ubåtservice since 2103, offering submarine guided travels and activities on Lågen w/ tributaries. His plans for Gudbrandsdalslågen is larger than it is itself aware of.
