Harpefoss Canyon

Harpefoss canyon is an unique landscape and geological formation in the valley of Gudbrandsdalen, shaped by glaciers and undercurrents from the melting ice. The canyon stretches a total length of 1,5 km and reaches as much as 30 meters from the top edge to the waterline. From times  unknown (also described in the Norse saga of Olav the Holy) this narrow stretch over the large river Laugen has provided passage and supported a hub of communication routes through the valley. There are several trails for hiking and recreation in the area around it.
