On May 23rd at 2:00 PM, Harpefoss Art Arena invites you to an open event, conversation and awarding of the Order of the Eagle to the leader of the Gudbrandsdalen Sports Fishing Association, Tore Solbakken, for his tireless efforts and results in terms of managing fish stocks and breeding areas for fish in the Gudbrandsdalslågen and its tributaries. For many years, Tore Solbakken has been a central voice and defender of the well-being of fish in the Gudbrandsdalen, and as a representative of sport fishing and a viable natural environment, has been an inspiration and has made a clear mark on the fight against littering, pollution and harmful interventions in waterways.

 

On the occasion of the award, Tore Solbakken will be interviewed by Øyvin Aamodt from the Friends of the Lågendeltaets venner about his work and commitment. At the same time, this is the first time the project OverOrdnaOrdener has been made public, a project initiated and created by artist Egil Martin Kurdøl and jewelry artist Ingun Kleppan. In connection with the award, there will therefore be a short presentation of the background to the project by the artists.

 

OverOrdnaOrders consist of five different orders in silver, all with an animal symbol, enameled and with some common features that make them easily recognizable as belonging to the same order category. The award criteria for OverOrdnaOrders differ from traditional orders in that they can be awarded to both people and animals that would rarely otherwise be considered for order awards.

 

Harpefoss art arena is one of six institutions and organizations that are intended for the management and presentation of OverOrdnaOrders. Among the other organizations are:
– The Bimblebox Art Project in collaboration with Bimblebox Nature Reserve in Queensland, Australia.
– Le Lieu, a center for contemporary art in Quebec, Canada.
– Public Delivery, a non-profit arts organization in Seoul, South Korea.

 

The award criteria for the Order of the Eagle state:
The Order of the Eagle is awarded to those who have stood up to defend and help or save people, animals and nature in need – be it; people, animals, birds, fish, insects, trees, forests, oceans, rivers, marshes and other valuable and dignified life that has been harmed or wronged. The order is particularly intended for award to brave women and men and animals, anti-racists, animal rights activists, nature conservationists, amnesty advocates, feminists and organic farmers.
